Sport Buff have been named ‘Best Fan Engagement Technology’ at the 2021 Sports Technology Awards.
Sport Buff have had an outstanding year, collaborating with some huge, global partners such as FIFA, MLS, DreamHack, Formula E and FIBA across a variety of platforms. The interactive overlay has added a new layer of engagement to a plethora of broadcasts and was officially recognised at the awards on May 6th.
The Sport Buff team attended the virtual ceremony in high spirits after being nominated for three awards in total – ‘Best Fan Engagement Technology’, ‘Best Digital Technology’ and ‘Best Use of Esports’, the latter being for the partnership with DreamHack.
Benn Achilleas, CEO and co-founder, has spearheaded Sport Buff’s growth and was delighted that the team’s hard work has been officially recognised.
He said: “Thank you to the judges and The STA Group for a great ceremony during such challenging times. The award validates our investment and commitment to delivering a best-in-class engagement solution to both sport and esports broadcasters.
“We’re excited by the ever-increasing interest in gamification and fan engagement and are proud to be market leaders in such an exciting field.”
Sport Buff were joined by some household names such as Chelsea, WWE, UEFA and Hawk-Eye Innovations as 2021 winners.
President and co-founder Jonty Whitehead joined the team last November and has been key in accelerating Sport Buff’s growth in the industry.
He added: “Special thanks must go to the team we have put together here at Sport Buff. Within it is a unique, in-depth understanding of the broadcasters’ world, and how our groundbreaking technology can help them overcome some of the challenges they face.”
